PostSubject: Stone Mountain Silver Eagle 50cal...Little Help Please...   November 18th 2013, 5:22 pm

I just picked up a stone mountain silver eagle 50cal. And nowhere does it say what the twist is. Im assuming its 1:48  Can anyone tell what it might be and where would a good starting point be for a load. Thinking maybe maxiballs or minis

Thanks for reading

Be patient......a lot of guys are hunting & there are also a lot of inline shooters on here. Carlos is on a trip so I would suggest asking Frontier Gander. He may know. I did a google search & found info on the gun but not the twist rate. I would suspect a 1 in 48 or a 1 in 66.

Jon is gone on vacation, and has no internet. You notice he hasn't been on the site today.

bmd1023,   FG will be back on the 23rd.  I'd send him a PM.

Keep in mind it's not the most common rifle in a gun cabinet, so like GregK said, try to be patient.  I revised your topic to be more specific to viewers to hopefully get someone's attention.

I just did a search, and came up with nothing. I found a whole bunch of them for sale, but nobody listed the twist.

Maybe Jon will know.

I tried to do some research also for you.  I did find that Stone Mountain Arms, Inc. was located in Norcross, GA.  Previously marketed exclusively by Connecticut Valley Arms, Inc.  Maybe you could send an inquiry to them and get all the information you need??

Good luck

You can always measure the twist by using a patch on your ramrod, and counting the turns as you move it up and down. 1-48 would be one full turn for 48" of movement of the ramrod. Obviously, your barrel is shorter than that, so you have to break it down to 1/2 turn for 24" of movement.
