IMO: The FX Encore is way overpriced.

i've scoped and sighted in a couple of those guns for other hunters. They had some of the same problems the Encore has been plagued with for years; mostly due to lack of quality control at TC.

Purchased an FX for my daughter. It is probably the best shooting muzzleloader I've purchased right out of the box. The barrel coating has been flawless. There hasn't been a downside to the gun I purchased. It shot under a 1"group with the first load I tried. It does cost a little more. I paid $493 for my daughter's but couldn't be happier.

The hinge pin in the FX is a knurled pin that is installed thru the barrel and receiver.  It is meant to be strictly a muzzleloader.  $600 is not way out of line, but you can get a better price if you shop around online.  I'm thinking you should be able to get one for around $500. They are definitely a good muzzleloader, but it is all in what you like.  I wouldn't trade mine for anything.
