Looks like a couple new guns and the new finish. Also looks like the Accura MR will be offered in stainless. http://www.cva.com/CVA-Catalog.php

That's real nice, especially since they also offer bare SS now.

I thought so as well. I like the looks of the new finish but I would rather have the stainless and the SS is 115 dollars cheaper on there.

very true.

The NW guns are pretty cool. That really opens up a lot to folks who have to use the #11 - musket cap stuff. Plus they will shoot conicals without any trouble.

The .45 likely made up a small percentage of overall sales. It looks to be a good solid lineup for this year.

Not sure I like the SS barreled black MR. It looks like an Optima.

Not sure what i'll do if mine chips which i'm sure it will. The bore is perfect with no loose spots, so I won't trade it for another one with CVA.

Maybe i'll have Jon dip it.

Looks like an Apex to me. The coating looks nice but I certainly would not want to be the one that tries it out first even though I assume it will hold up well. One thing I don't like about dipped guns and some coatings is that it will come off or get discolored if some kinds of cleaning products come in contact with it. I had a Triumph that everything was dipped on. The camo pattern would come off leaving the beige color base and I assume that would eventually come off as well since it was coming off some on the end of the barrel. Just give me stainless and be done with it. I have a blued Optima V2 now and while it looks good, I have to be careful with it as well.

The Apex has a longer barrel. The first thought I get without looking too close is Optima.

I'd trade blued in a second for the coating I have now. Keep it oiled, and it will last forever.

The bluing that they are using on the Optima V2 is okay but not like the bluing that is typically used. This stuff will come off if you are not careful. The frame looks black, almost like it is a coating and not blued. The barrel is dark but when you look really close it looks more like bluing than a coating. I'll try to get some pictures up of what I am talking.

That's true. I had two Wolf's that were blued. They don't polish the metal very good before bluing. Not a great look.

I sure don't like the looks of the black MR. The coating is sort of a dark grey, and doesn't look that good with the black stock. I'm trying to live with it, but I know i'll change it at some point.

Here are three guns. Top (or kind of top left) is a sidelock, middle is the Optima V2, and the bottom is a 870 Express. The Optima v2 and 870 Express pretty much have the same finish and I know the 870 has a really bad finish and will rust if you look at it wrong. If I recall correctly it is some sort of applied bluing that is not the same as the other kind of bluing (chemical, hot?). As you can see the sidelock has the shiny bluing which in my experience holds up better to rust then the other kind. Of course you have to keep them all oiled but some kinds of bluing are better than others.

We could always use the old browning. Then when it rusts it blends right in.  Very Happy

The 870 Express to the 870 Wingmaster is like what a turd is to a Baby Ruth.  tongue

Bit of an exaggeration.

I do prefer the Wingmaster over the Express, naturally. But one costs significantly less than the other as well. So you get what you pay for and they really shouldn't be compared to each other. I will say that the new Wingmasters do not compare to the older ones in my opinion.

Yes, with the Express you get a lot of rust for the money.
