I recently purchased a 50 cal Investarms manufactured in 1980.
It came with a 6 x .75 #11 nipple.  My question is, can I use a musket nipple with the same thread?
I currently have the gun apart, re-finishing the wood.
I understand the hammer needs to align and I plan to fire off several caps once I get it back together.

Do you foresee any other issues I should be aware of?

It should fit if the threads are the same. As you said. The hammer will have to line up better than it does with #11 caps.

Only problem I foresee is that the musket caps can  get quite scarce at times.
