PostSubject: New guy / New Optima   January 24th 2014, 8:07 am

Been reading this forum for several months since getting the bug to purchase my first ML.  Been shooting and reloading for longer than I care to remember but a novice when it comes to muzzleloaders.  This forum has been a wealth of information.  My new Optima, along with everything I need to get started arrived late yesturday from Carlos.  He is great to work with and gave great advise on everything I would need to get started.  Also stocked up on Lanes tubes.  Lane was also friendly and easy to work with.  Headed straight to the garage this morning to scrub the bore, clean the rifle and mount the scope.  Just waiting for enough light to get it bore sighted.  Hope to get to the range in the next couple days to press that trigger for the first time.

I Have been able to find answers to most of my questions by searching this forum, but just have one for now.  (I am sure I will have many more once I get going).  I have read it's not necessary to swab between shots with bh 209, but I am using sabots.  Is there a need to swab due to the plastic residue in the bore, and if so how often?

I look forward to being a part of this forum for a long time to come.

Modern sabots don't leave any residue. You won't need to swab between shots with BH 209.
