i've owned a .50 New Englander for a couple of years.   Recently bought a nice 26" .54 barrel from a fine gent on this forum.   The barrel is the older model with the better sights.

Hopefully i'll get the gun to the range next week.

That light rifle with a .54 should be a handful.  Shocked

I used to shoot the Great Plains Bullet in my .54 New Englander. I believe it was 430gr. It got my attention, but a PRB was easy on the cheek.

It might be my imagination, but I felt the New Englander was easier on recoil than the Renegade.

Them Great Plains Bullets are very effective in the .54 , mine weigh in at 452gr.
