PostSubject: MAKING THE JUMP   March 28th 2014, 7:14 pm

Well.....it's finally happened. Not quite yet actually, it's in the works. I'm making the jump to a slufoot SML conversion & it's all  Twisted Evil Carlos  Twisted Evil  fault, LOL! He's finally converted me :)As of right now I can't use a SML in Michigan Zone 3 where I live, but it will function just fine with BH209 until they change the regs or if I go up north to the rifle zone. I'm pretty excited to get into this.

Yes, I will take all the blame on this one Twisted Evil , but in the end you will love it Twisted Evil .

I have a Savage ML10 and used it some but it was more like a toy that I got tired of playing with. If it were balanced better and lighter, I would use it more often.
I like the stinky smoky stuff better. I have plenty of smokeless alternatives that are balanced better and lighter. They are bolt-action guns also.  Wink

It's funny how things turn out. I went from in-lines, which are great ML'ers, to traditional and some guys go from in-lines to smokeless.  Dunno ( I guess it's whatever floats your boat ) headslap

It's interesting to see some of the different directions people are going on here. Like Hawg and Pato going traditional and Greg going smokeless. I see myself going the smokeless route and would have snagged Carlos Apex if it would have been a month or so later. SML is legal in both states I hunt so I'm looking at the cost side of it. Keep us posted on how things are going for you.

Thanks Ray & of course you can see that Carlos is totally to blame, LOL!!  You're right about the changes & who knows why some go one way & others go another.  I think you nailed it. It's just personal preference.

Jon....it will be on my APEX frame. My plan at this point I am planning to transfer my VX-R SCOPE & DNZ mount from my 50 cal barrel. I will start sabotless with the Barnes 250

Yeah, I like that fact Smile  I will keep you posted but I know that slufoot does a fantastic job & Carlos had one or two of these & they were very accurate. Fortunately for me, Carlos already has the loads worked up so all I should have to do is burn powder Smile

I agree... I've been hunting with an inline for about ten years and would love to get into traditional if I could get someone to sell me a rifle at a good price!  headslap

One good side effect of this is Greg will be selling his multitude of "dirty smoky" guns and the rest of us can gobble them up.  lol!

Of course, he has been selling stuff regularly to buy new toys.  :shh

Have fun with your new shooter GregK  Exclamation

if it weren't for the traditionalist, the inliners and the smokeless* members this forum would be pretty boring.

I don't own a SLUFOOT but it must be a fine shooting rifle.  I see a lot of people with his conversions.

Sure you will enjoy it

Funny how life turns out , I started shooting about 41 years ago and as life progressed I tried all the nitro guns out there but in the end turned to the primitive guns to get the most enjoyment and fulfilment out of hunting and shooting.

Not saying I will not use or enjoy using a SML but the smoke will surely be missed.
