Brother, nephew, nephews friend and I loaded the canoe onto the truck ( I made a rack for it) and took off the to lake around noon.

Bubba had his first fishing trip ever and I think he enjoyed himself. He had his fun in the lake and then my nephews friend and I took him for a long ride in the canoe and he just sat there, laid down, sat and watched the waves come by.

My nephews friend up front caught a nice one! He had a BIGGER one but it hopped off the hook when he brought it up, You should have heard the swearing bouncing off the walls around the lake!  Laughing

yeah Williams is a good one! I caught some nice ones there. North Lake down by us isn't to bad. Wind was horrible most of the day so fishing out of the canoe was hard due to you always getting blown back into shore lol.

I thought of it but wasnt sure how useful it would be on something like a canoe. I'd have to have a lot of rope when I get to the middle of the lake.

Make sure you anchor from the stern so you don't have to turn around in a canoe. Also you can cast with the wind that way.

I got a collapsible 3 lb. claw-type anchor from Cabela's for my canoe. It works if it's a rough bottom or there are lots of weeds to catch the light anchor. It doesn't work well in a strong wind on a mud or sand bottom.

They aren't switching hands when going from side to side.
