A quarter pound of shot or a ball that heavy would use up my lead supply quickly.

I'd like to have the lock.

4 bore is a synonym for 4 gauge. As Jon said, "a big ass bore!"

Seriously, Spit, would a round ball from that gun be able to penetrate the vitals on an elephant??? I would think it would flatten out and not get to a lethal spot????    confused  scratch

Just joking Bob  Wink  But lead balls of that calibre has killed a lot of elephant on this continent.

Pete she has never been fired as no one is brave enough to try and control 140 + lbs of free recoil , I think upon firing she will just spin around and 'bite' who-ever is trying to hold her !

I'd use just enough powder to roll the ball out the barrel.  Very Happy

We were thinking of having some aluminium balls made up to bring the projectile weight down. I offered to try her out , was thinking of tying a rope around the barrel and hanging a weight from it to control barrel whip.

Forget the weight. Tie the barrel to the floor.  Wink

But I'll bet they were all fired from long arms, not pistols.

I'd probably break both wrists, and knock myself out if I shot it with a real load in it.

The good thing is i'd wake up from a coma not remembering what happened.

I think this is the only 4 bore pistol ever made ....so you're right Bob

Pete I saw a clip on you-tube where a guy fired a 577 or 600 NE pistol and that thing nearly took him out !

Magna-port it. That will reduce the recoil to the point of unconsciousness rather than death. Suspect

The powder spills out when you load.  Very Happy

Actually, it does work. Traditions uses it on the Vortek, and it helps.

I always had it done on my trap shooting guns.
