THE Hog hunt is on Exclamation  Exclamation  Exclamation
Come Sept 1st, Rosie, my Hawken and Jeb, he's my PA Hunter, will be with me on that hog hunt I missed earlier this year. Will be hunting from a blind and I'll be shooting off sticks.
The CVA hawken is sighed in for 75 yards so now I have to work on the .50 cal PA Hunter. I'll probably start with 80 grains and go from there. 75 yards should be far enough but I will check both rifles to see the drop, if any out to 100.

Good luck hunting gents Exclamation  Exclamation

Very Happy

Jonathan,

I'll do my best to fill my freezer with a PORKER and I'll take pics because I feel the side lock shooters might want to see the damage the PRB does to a critter. If I get one the butcher will let me get those  cavity pics. All I need is to have one of those " poor man's rhino " get with 75 yards of me :Grace

Have fun, hog hunting is a blast! Would love to do it with a muzzleloader. I got a couple with my bow about 10 years ago, on a trip to Texas. It's quite an adrenaline rush, especially when they get within about 10 paces from you, lol.

Most of my hog kills have been with buckshot after my dog bayed them up but I've killed a few with a muzzleloader ... even with a round ball from my Ruger Old Army with 30 gr. of 3F.

Hogs aren't hard to kill unless you tackle those big old boars ... which aren't fit to eat IMO.  pig

Have a good time Ray.
