PostSubject: .... New RAMROD ..............   June 24th 2014, 7:52 pm

scratch
I just bought a new ramrod for my T/C PA Hunter ( 31 5/8"s ), because I thought the one that was with the rifle was too flimsy. I ordered a new ramrod that is unbreakable according to their catalog that was the exact same length for my hunter. I wanted to have it because this rifle will be my back up rifle and I wanted to make sure it was ready to go.
I bought what I thought was going to do the trick. When I seen the word unbreakable I figured this is the one I need. I bought a synthetic Delrin nylon ramrod 31 5/8"s. It's like a buggy whip and bent out of shape. It maybe unbreakable but it's really flexible and I doubt if you can use it to seat a bullet. Maybe it's just for show.......................$17.99 down the shitter :tdown2 I just didn't read into the add.
Now I am going to order another ramrod and it's going to be made from HICKORY and I'm going to put my own tips on it. I seen these ramrods in their catalog also but I think I would be better off with the stiffer ramrod.......... scratch

Opinions gents.........

Hickory! That plastic stuff is ok IF your loads, load easy, but if its stiff, most of the time the ramrod wacks you in the back of the head during loading.

I got a coated fiberglass one for one of my shotguns that works real good. A guy on another forum named "Ohio Ramrod" made it for me.

Ray, "Ohio Ramrod" is not at aramrod.com in case you thought he worked there. If you want his info, PM me.

I've made several using appropriate size braze rod (brass).  !/4" for a 32 and a shotgun up to 3/8" for a range rod (old pool ball for a handle).  Otherwise go to Track of the Wolf for material.

That's where I bought this rod from. I didn't read enough in the catalog I guess but I did see the blanks to make your own out of hickory. I get about 90% of my equipment from TOW and don't have any problem with them. I just didn't read it correctly.
