PostSubject: New guy (and new to ML's too)...   August 23rd 2014, 2:59 pm

Hi All!

Great site and I've already been lurking about.

Just made a deal on an Accura V2 in the Realtree stock with the Konus scope and CVA softbag.  Could not pass it up at $325 shipped  cheers
I've been a CF cartridge guy for sometime and have many rifles - but this is my first foray into Muzzleloaders!  I've read and been told great things about CVA's (and esp. the Accura V2).
My experiences have all been with short and medium (600yds) shooting for score (accuracy), and I know I'm going to be looking at accurizing the new firestick!

I am planning to shoot the Blackhorn powder exclusively, so I have some work to do on getting this one setup (once I actually have it in my hands that is).

I'm sure I'm going to be a big pest asking questions - so please go easy on me.

Jim

Welcome. We have some hard-core Accura shooters here and I'm sure you'll get lots of help. I do the side-hammer stuff mainly.

Very Happy
Welcome aboard Exclamation  Exclamation  Exclamation
You bought a really good rifle. I started with the V1 then a V2 and wound up with a CVA MR. They are all good shooters. 110 grains, by volume, of Black horn 209 with the right bullet and sabot and you'll find that the accuracy and consistency is second to none.
Try the 260 grain Harvester PT GOLD and a Harvester smooth black sabot or the crushed black sabot will work. (I like the smooth black sabot over the crushed because it was a little tighter going down the barrel). Better pressure build up. Great accuracy.

I would have to say the Parker Ballistic Extreme 275's are really good also but THEY ARE PRETTY PRICEY. That's why I went with the PT GOLD'S in 260 GRAIN. You can get them in 300 grain but I never shot them so I can't say. I don't give advice on things that I don't try myself like some do...........

Thanks guys!

BTW - the Accura V2 deal for $325 fell through (smelled a lot like a scam), so I picked up a new Accura Mountain Rifle in the RealTree camo with scope and bag instead ($450 +shipping).

Welcome aboard Jim! I think you will enjoy that MR! They are a sweet shooting rifle, especially the triggers!

To bad about the V2 but at least you were alert and pulled out rather than taking a chance and losing the $$.

Welcome to FM! Glad you made such a wise purchase Smile If you need anything else you may want to call Carlos at Ed's Gun Shop (as most on here will recommend) 910-692-7936

Now, go burn some powder & have some fun!!
