Hey folks,
New guy checking in here. I shoot a T/C Hawken 50, Traditions Penn Long Rifle 50, and a CVA Bobcat 50. Used to have a couple of pistols, a 1851 Navy and a 1860 Army, both Uberti, sold them a while back, wish I had not, hopefully I will get a couple more one day.

Great to be here and looking forward to learning more

thanks you guys, been doing everything by trial and error for a long time, but I am getting older and more impatient, especially when there are so many pros out here who have been there done that, and I have been snooping around and yes there is some great info here. You will see me asking questions in some of the other subforums

Asking stupid questions is better than making stupid mistakes.  Hang out listen and learn.

Hey and pretty soon we'll get you into shooting flintlocks!

Bronco2,
we live in the Tidewater area, own some land in Surry County. We lived in the Richmond area back in the early 90s and that is where I caught the muzzle loading bug. At the range I used to shoot at in Amelia County there were a couple of guys who shot sidelocks and flintlocks and they let me try them out. Well I caught the bug and every week we would get together and shoot all day after I bought my first T/C Hawken. Never cared much for the in-line stuff, but I am certainly not opposed to it in any way. As my eyes get older, being able to hunt black powder with a scoped in-line gets more appealing, but at heart I am a traditionalist. Yes, I guess it is the "hard" way by comparison, but I sure like making bullets and lube and experimenting with loads and such, and the whole primitive thing is really appealing to me. I am glad to be here though, I have learned a lot already

Welcome to the Forum!

There is no such thing as a stupid question. Now, stupid answers, that's possible, though not on this Forum.

If you want to keep Virginia "Green" ($$$$$), for muzzle loading supplies, give Troy Roope a call at 434-993-3557 in Concord, VA.
http://www.stonewallcreekoutfitters.com/ He holds national records in bench-rest competition, as does his family members. He caters to traditional shooters. Fine feller.

If you are interested in shooting with other black powder shooters in your region, go to the NMLRA's Charter Club Directory at http://nmlra.org/business-directory/wpbdm-category/virginia/

The Olde Virginia Primitive Riflemen out of Bacon's Castle, VA host a rendezvous twice a year out in the country. The Fall gathering was last weekend, it usually draws about 400 folks from MD, TN, KY, VA, & NC. Go to:http://www.ovpr.org/

Hope this helps,
