Distance:   About 50 yards
Gun:  TC .54 New Englander
Powder:  100 grains of Black MZ
Cap:  #11 Winchester Mag
Patch lube:  GoJo
Bullet:  PRB

Today was the last day of OK deer gun season.  Took my Remington 700 in .30-06 and the .54 caliber TC New Englander and went to our deer lease.   Went for a long walking hunt and saw nothing.  Went to the area of my favorite stand and saw little fresh deer sign.   Went to a stand on the point where West Cache Creek makes a horseshoe bend.  Decided to take the .54 instead of the centerfire rifle.

That creek is in a deep channel with steep sides.  There are a few deer and hogs trails up the bank.   That stand over looks three deer trails.

At 17:15 saw a deer come up the bank and stop.   Immediately fired and the deer took off.  Went to the point where the deer was standing when shot.   Followed the blood trail for about 90 yards and found the deer lying in the access trail.   That is the exit hole.

Because of the stand height the bullet went through the deer at a downward angle,  damaging one lung  and tearing up blood vessels

That .54 will leave a mark. Wink

Congratulations on a nice deer.
