New Year's Eve morning I was blessed to harvest an 18" wide 8pt with my .54 Flintlock. 90gr Goex FFg pushed the 230 gr .535 ball patched w .024" denim lubed with mink oil. A high shoulder shot at 63 yards.

Congrats on the buck.  A .54 round ball does a good job on deer.

A .535 roundball with a .024 patch? Are you sure about that?

BTW... Congrats on your blessing!

Smile
IMHO, that combo maybe a very, very tight fit. scratch The .018 with a .530 ball was getting a little tight for my .54 Renegade.
I use 90 grains Goex 2F with a .530 Hornady ball and a .015 or .018 patch with mink oil that I rubbed in generously and CCI or Remington Percussion caps.

Yes, I'm sure. I also shoot .395s and same patch material in the .40 and making some .400s. Same material w .495s. The are only tight when whacking them into the muzzle.
