PostSubject: First time out   January 18th 2015, 3:23 pm

It was a fine morning today, getting to shoot my New CVA Accura MR!

First of all, I reviewed some of the information available on Frontier Muzzleloading.  Certainly, there is a wealth of information.
However, the best information was to contact Carlos at Ed's Gun Shop.

Carlos has set me up with my new Accura MR with a Leupold VX-2.  Of course, it has the WP breech plug, as Blackhorn 209 seemed to be the way I wanted to go.  I could not wait to get the rifle, but when I did, I was certainly pleased with how it looked and felt shouldered.

Finally, today I was able to go out and fire off a few rounds.  I must say, that from loading to clean-up, it was a snap and all of this was made easy by the information on this site and the CVA site.  If I had known how good it would be, I would have started this all up sooner!  Yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks.

I fine-tuned the scope today and and I was impressed with the accuracy of the rifle. The trigger was very nice!   Touching holes at 100 yards, from a rest, of course.  I was using Blackhorn 209, Federal primers, 260 gr PT Golds.

So, it was a GREAT first outing for my entry into muzzleloading rifle shooting.  I am looking forward to trying some other bullets, which are coming from Carlos, of course.

Again, I appreciate the info available from the Forum.

KUDOS to Carlos!  He is a tremendous resource!

Sounds like you did some great shooting for the first time, Good going.
As GregK said, Carlos is the go to guy, and a man of his word,(very hard to find anymore) You have a great set up and you have made some great friends, Bad thing is, you will have a hard time finding a bullet that the MR does not like, it will shoot just about anything you want to stuff down the barrel.
