PostSubject: Almost a "Barn Find"!!!   February 25th 2015, 11:02 am

I got a call a few weeks back from a Gentleman that used to hit the Rondy's and living history events here in central Mo.
Said he had some old guns to be rid of and had heard I was in to that sort of thing.

Well, we made the deal last nite!!

Top is an old original double barrel. Really bad shape.
Next one down is a DGW Kentuckian in 45 cal
The pistol on the right is a CVA Pioneer in 32
The pistol on the left is made by A. Comer of Mo. back in the early 80's
Next one down, the trade gun is made in Mo., but not by Mr. Comer
And the bottom is a 20 ga fowler made by A. Comer!!

They all need some cleaning, as they've been in the attic of his shop for 30 yrs!!!

From the looks of it, it appears you made out like a bandit. Whats the condition of the barrels and stocks Question

Thanks Ray. From what I can tell, everything but the double will work after a clean and lube job!!  Bore light only fit in the 2 smoothbores, and they are in good shape!  All stocks are solid!

Oh, and Mr. Comer also made the Bowie!!!

The barrels in both the Trade Gun and the Fowler were made by the same guy. Virtually identical

And lastly, and a great addition to the collection, a hand written 2 page letter from Mr. Comer, describing the parts used in the Fowler and a recommended load!!

I have talked with Mr. Comer, and will be taking these guns to him so he can reminisce!!

Best we can tell it's all made in the early 80's or a little before!  Except for the double barrel, it's at least 100 yrs older possibly!

I hope so, but it'll take a lot of work. The stock is broken clear thru at the wrist, and the barrel ends look like they've been rammed into a brick wall 136 times lol.

That don't sound good, but I am sure there is someone out there who can help you with those problems. That is if you need help

I'll definitely explore it further when I get a chance!  Too many other projects going right now and no time to work on any of em!!

Going to start working up a turkey load for the fowler this weekend!
