Just picked up a CVA Frontier 50 cal.the price was nice. It has a 24 inch barrel and is very light.
I know this is a lesser grade gun but I like it. Anyone know about this or have one Very Happy

Drummy,

I have the percussion model .  I bought it in either 93-94 and knew absolutely nothing of bp so I buried it in my shop.  I did however resurrect it last fall and now that hunting season is over I'm going to try some different stuff.  I've tried some 385 gr conicals with not any success, last fall i tried Hornady's 240 Pa conicals with more luck going out next weekend may shoot a wad underneath those conicals also going to try some sabots maybe I'll get lucky.  I did swap out the sights in the 90's and put a nice click adjustable rear on and a Williams front.

How is the trigger on yours ?  Mine is on the heavy side I've cleaned the hammer assembly and lubed it hoping to lightening it.

The Frontier isnt such a bad rifle. They should have adjustable tumblers for trigger pull. If not, one can be bought and installed easily. Just make sure you loosen up the lock screws and see if that helps. Sometimes over tightening the lock screws will pull it into the wood and cause a slow hammer fall or heavy trigger pull.
