PostSubject: file these under epic fail   April 18th 2015, 1:37 pm

I was trying to figure out a cheap easy way to slug a bore of a muzzleloader, I oiled the bored heavy, used hot glue. that was the fail right there, let it set. had to use a heat gun to release the hot glue. so all lands and grooves where gone. spent the next hour cleaning and running conicals thru the barrel to scrap the glue out.  started thinking corrosafe is $23 for half lb. I can melt and reuse and does not take much heat to melt.

side note I used a couple powder coated lee 501-440 to help clean the bore. some of the powder coat chipped off and the places it did not took rifling while. loaded about the same as lee reals with just lube.

powder coat chipping off is my fault. I did not prep the bullets right for the coating.

Corey knew I was going to say something like that. I didn't want to disappoint him.

A pure lead plug with a screw eye with a cord attached would probably work if the bore were clean and lubed. (Disclaimer: I have never tried it personally.)

Running lee real seemed to do a good job. Need to get new cleaning brushes, if I had one would, I would have been done half the time.

most the time I use pure lead ball a caliber larger or  lead fishing sinkers to slug. Live and learn
