A friend of mine that I was turkey hunting with this year in South Carolina just sent me this photo of a giant Flathead catfish that he just caught.

Nice one! I was watching a show called Rivermen and this one guy was catching those. Not as big though, very interesting looking cat fish.

I believe they tie a set line (150 lb test) to a tree branch using live shad as bait.  It took two of them to get it in the boat.

We call those bush hooks. If a live bluegill is used for bait (where legal), they are very effective. I caught a 22 lb channel catfish that way once.
