PostSubject: mr barrel messed up   June 11th 2015, 6:41 pm

went to the range today. forgot weather i put any anti freeze up on my breach plug.  when i took it off i forget that i loaded it up.  thought i got all the powder off the threads. when reinstalling the breach plug it  was really hard turning on the threads.  kept having to back it out and putting it in again. it was getting really tight. finally after a while we got it in. i don't know how but it shot really tight groups with 209 and pt gold 260's. like half in inch.  bad thing is taking out the plug back home was supper hard again. does this sound like the threads are ruined and if so can you buy a new barrel.  it is a cva accure mr
thanks

I don't think you ruined the threads. You just need to flush out all the powder from the barrel threads and the BP.

If you're going to shoot BH 209. You don't need any lube at all on the threads. None! Then you won't have problems like this.

BH209 granules are VERY hard and once it breaks up in the thread, it makes a very tight fit. Just clean out the threads good with a breech brush or 54cal bore brush and it should go back in smoothly
