PostSubject: .45 Omega opening day buck   November 14th 2015, 2:51 pm

Killed this buck this morning at 7:40 with my .45 Omega that I bought off Carlos this summer..load was 110 gr. Blackhorn, 200 gr. Shockwave/light blue sabot and W209 primer, shot was 55-60 yds.. deer dropped at the shot, entrance through shoulder out the neck he must of  been quartering more then I though, kinda rushed the shot as he was crossing logging road going into some thick stuff. The entrance wound is bigger then the exit, silver dollar size on surface and under shoulder where it hit ribs you could stick 3-4 fingers in hole, the exit is as big as a 50 cent piece.

Congratulations. Maybe the whole bullet didn't exit after hitting the neck vertebrae. That might account for the smaller exit hole.

Not sure what he weighed but he was a big bodied deer..I boned the whole neck out and never found any of the slug..
Well getting ready to go out and try and get a doe or 2 for the freezer.

Yeah Ive been thinking about that also, have the ex 50 cal. now .54 cal. Renegade that I chopped the barrel and Bobby Hoyt rebored it to .54.. and the CVA Hawken with 16-17 in. barrel, only thing about the CVA with that hooked metal butt plate it kicks like a mule and hurts to boot.

Found the same thing in the deer I shot yesterday witn my 45 acurra and 200 grain sst with 100 grains of 209 the entrance hole was larger than the exit hole 1 inche in 3/4 inche out but was lung shoot not to ruin the front shoulders. Destroyed to much meat with these bullets on shoulder shoots. A blind man could follow the blood trail on this deer that I lung shoot.
