PostSubject: John House   December 18th 2015, 7:20 pm

I just made final arrangements to have my new Kentucky long knife- made for me by John House-
sent to my dad's house so I can hold it faster. I have been after this for some time. Cool

Folks like Daniel Boone wrote of Kentuckians and their long knives. It is a pleasure to finally have one
for myself made by one of the best old style knife makers of our time. Yeah, I know. I am being annoying.
But, this means a lot to me. Embarassed When John House said he would make one for me, I was like, yeah! Shocked

JOHN HOUSE BELT KNIFE AND SHEATH WOODBURY STYLE

This knife is a Woodbury Style Belt knife. The blade was forged from 1084 stock. Blade is 7" from tip to poured pewter collar. Overall 11 5/8". Handle is white tail deer antler. Can be either hand but more suited for a right hand. Through tang pinned down into an iron domed end cap. Has custom made leather sheath for this knife. John House

I am partial to the House family and their work. I like the Woodbury style. They echo of Kentucky history, but offer a refined artist's touch that is today. They grew up a few counties over from where I did. Their work reminds me of the best parts of home.

I saw a House rifle built as a retirement gift for a man in 1975 go up for more than three thousand dollars last week. It had been through a bit and was not as gilded as some of the rifles I have seen from Hershel House.

But, I was still tempted. But, that one did not call to me. I will wait and hope to get lucky.

I have only dreamed about having a House rifle.
THAT is a very nice knife. It is one of those items to be treasured.

Enjoy,
Ron

I should have written 'wait and hope to get REALLY lucky!' Laughing

Thanks for the compliment! I WILL treasure it!
