Cool Wink

Going to the range in the morning and I'm going to pattern my new 870. I've got half doz chokes and 4's, 5's and 6's in 2 3/4's and 3". After that I'll spend a few hours at the trap range and try to break a few clay birds. Will post results if all goes well. cheers

Very Happy

Thanks Marty....Them old eyes aint what they used to be though........ Wink

Shot many shells today Exclamation Those 3" start to do a number on you after a while Exclamation Exclamation Best results were the 3" Remington #6's, 1 7/8's oz. shot and the 3"Winchester Supreme Double X Turkey Loads #5's', 2oz. shot cheers
I was shooting at the 25 yard range and I was using the 14 x 14 turkey head target. My aim point was the middle of the neck. I'm not going to guess and say 100 pellets were in the head and neck because I stopped counting at 130 with the #6's. The #5's were a little less give or take 25 or 30.
The choke I got the best results with was the Remington turkey super full. Remington full came in second. I feel confident enough, after all this patterning, that this combo would be good out to 40/45 yards cheers cheers cheers

Hawg, when it comes to even my "super" turkey loads I usually set my limit at 40 yards. Sounds like you are there. Smile

p.s. Spring turkey hunting here in MA has been very good. One woman who works in my Departement took a 21 pounder Exclamation I'll see if I can get a photo of that big boy strutter.
