PostSubject: Hi from a new member   Wed 3 Feb - 21:41

Hello from a new member. Been in and out of muzzleloading a couple of times and now  have a renewed interest because of good friend who wants to go muzzleloader hunting this fall. Picked up a TC Hawken and a renegade in 54 caliber. I also renewed my interest in the rock sparker side of this and bought a Lyman Great Plains fLintlock. Made some modifications to the Lyman installing an L&R lock and davis deerslayer triggers in it. Jack Brooks of Denver did the work. I also just ordered a Lyman Trade rifle in 54 cal for a hunting rifle. I will be interested to see how the trade rifle is when it comes. When I bought the Hawken it came with a barrel in good condition so I was told. Got the gun and it was pitted and rusty. So I sent the barrel out to be rebored to 58 cal. Looking forward to that. Anyone know when its going to get warm again. Im ready Al

Sounds like you're an old pro at this. Welcome.

(Don't pay attention to the Colonel, he's only been in Florida a short time and is homesick. Laughing)

Hello BigAl52 and welcome to the forum!  I'm always looking at the .54 Lyman Trade rifles.  I want one in flintlock, so someday that's my next rifle.  Tell us how yours shoots when it gets warm enough to do so.

Im old but no pro. As far as the Colonel goes maybe the sun has dried his brain out just a bit and he needs the moisture. Anyone wishing for snow has to be not all there. Colonel you by chance you didn't hit the smoke shop in Colorado did you? Very Happy sunny sunny sunny sunny sunny  Al

I see you have a 58 cal renegade. Did you have it bored to that caliber or is that a TC big bore barrel you put on the renegade. Al

Welcome BigAl,

Bobby Hoyt bored a 56SB to .58 and I put it on a T/C Renegade Hunter. You will be happy with yours, a good choice.
