PostSubject: Should I wait to buy new ML   February 23rd 2016, 5:08 pm

I going to buy a new ML from ED's Gun Shop. I going to buy a CVA Accura V2 in Nitride with a Kondos scope. Just wondering if I should buy it now or wait to see if they go on sale or any rebates that might come in future. I am new to the game and will have many questions for you guys when I pull the pin and order this gun. One other question I have, would I be better off ordering this gun without the scope and putting on a Nikon ML scope that is a 3x9 power. I do not know much about the Kondos scopes. Thanks

order it with out the Konus scope...the eye relief is very close..my first Accura i got with the scope and after a day shooting it came off and went on a .22...with 3in eye relief it was a matter of time before I got bit...I ended up getting a Leupold from Carlos for it...

Also the vortex scopes are a very good scope for the money ..crisp clear optics..lifetime warranty..and priced right..Carlos is a Vortex dealer also...he will help you decide ...

Yes, if you plan on buying a Leupold down the road, I highly suggest buying it without the provided scope and safe a few bucks and put it towards the Leupold.

Rayiii, the rule of thumb: always buy the best optics you can afford.  You'll never regret one day having a great scope!

Good luck!

I found myself in the Ft. Worth Cabelas. Darn the rotten luck.  So, I checked out the 3x9 Konos, 3x9 Leupold Utrasuperwhatever Slam, and a VX-2.

The Konos has a nicer reticle, but the glass is "fair" at best.  The VX-2, while having only a Duplex reticle, was very clear, bright, and just a darn nice scope.

Pass on the Konos.

If $$$ is a problem, ask Carlos about a used Leupold. He sometimes gets them on trade. I got a used Burris from him and it was the same as a new one as far as I could tell.

I say buy a little bit better than you can afford.  I do.

It's SO worth it.

Never compromise on the reticle!!

Penny wise penny foolish Go for the better scope You only get what you pay for. I have learned in my 79 years go for the better scope even a Leupold VX-1 is a great scope for the money. You'll hear people rave about how nice a cheaper scope is Fine till it shoots apart Buy the Leupold and if it does mess up they will stand behind it 100% Good Luck

Used to buy cheap scopes for my muzzleloaders.  A box of 14 busted scopes  in the attic  went away at the community yard sale.   Some were bounced to death on my old Toyota pickup.  My CVA StagHorn  and Mag Hunter accounted for several.

i personally like fixed power scopes, fewer parts to break.  The Leupold FX ii 4X33 is a good one.

Leupold discontinued my favorite scope, a fixed 6x42 with coated glass.

The only scope that I ever hit my eyebrow with was a Konus. I took it off and threw it at a tree. Punch me and i'll punch you back.

Buy the gun & scope separately. If you get everything from Carlos, he will mount it for you & if given the time will get it sighted in too.

Greg

Thanks again for all that replied back. Greg K said that carlos would sight it in if given time is this true? He could have it for a month or two, I first need it in Nov.  I will order the gun this weekend with no scope and talk to Carlos about a scope and have him mount it. Thanks again

Leupold still sells the 6X42 as the FX-3.  It's on three of my guns and it's great.

Well, I see that the scope hasn't really changed except for the FX-3 designation .. and the price. It's now twice as much as it used to be.
