If it shoots even half as good as the Sharon Hawken I had, you are going to be one happy man. I don't remember why I sold mine, (probably to help pay for something else) but there have been many times I wish I still had it.

Sorry for not seeing this sooner!

Good lord is that a freakin gorgeous rifle! The stock is just amazing, I love the low profile, sleek nose cap. Just a graceful flow to the overall stock shape.

If this is the flinter thats giving you some trouble, I'd take that thick leather pad out. You want the thickness of a nickel between the frizzen and flint.

Pound a lead ball flat and thin and wrap the flint in that instead of leather.

The wood is just gorgeous, not to mention the rifle as a whole.

Nice gun, but is there anything wrong with calling it a flintlock?   tongue

Guess you guys weren't in the army or marines, or just forgot the mantra:

"This is my rifle, this is my gun, this is for fighting, this is for fun!"

You said this while alternately holding your rifle and your "gun" .

PostSubject: Re: Got the Rocklock in my hands!   April 10th 2016, 11:34 pm

Once upon a time when I was shooting with the Army rifle team I was having trouble shooting sitting rapid fire. On a Saturday morning very early I was awakened by the First Sarge...(who was the team coach) by my bunk being picked up at the end about four foot high...and dropped! The words I heard were...."Get outa the sack and get your gear....we're going to the range!" Needless to say I complied....quickly! The Sarge had already lined up a target puller and we went to the 200 yard line. I noticed that the Sarge had a bundle of newspapers rolled up with rubber bands around them and when I asked him what they were for the reply back was...."You'll soon find out!" Long story short....each time I screwed up I got whacked in the head by the rolled up papers....with a short dissertation on what I had done wrong! I probably fired 15 strings of ten rounds that Saturday and when we finished....my last ten strings....I didn't drop a point! Nor....did I drop any points in practice or a match over the next four years! Oh....BTW....Sargeant Clyde M. Sheets wound up being one of my best friends over the next 25 years! Leaders....have a way of getting a point across!! cheers :suhlute
