PostSubject: been a while, update on my 300blk   May 2nd 2016, 6:46 pm

was doing while, pretty accurate, my jacket loads looked promising. cast loads where getting there. then tragedy hit. loaded up a reload. kicked my hand off the handguard, destroyed the mag, and a seized bolt. I blow it up. went over my reloading notes for 300blk did not see anything wrong, went over my 9mm loads looked on my reloading table. I loaded the wrong powder. headslap

my ar is dead right now. grrrr. spent most the day it happen trying to get the bolt and spent shell out as well the next day, my charging handle broke while working on it. took it to a gunsmith and he could not get it out.

I am rebuilding, had another upper I was getting ready for 556/223 build. the lower is just fine. I stripped the paint off and redid it. painted the upper as well as the lower for my next build (while I was at it deal).

next build lower

lower and upper for my new 300blk

oh man you are lucky Corey! I read that and my stomach just dropped. Glad you are ok! Guns can be replaced, repaired but a persons hand can only go so far.

Lesson learned! What powder did you load with by mistake?

Sometime I feel like reloading at night but then remember that I could get drowsy and make a mistake. One day later won't matter so I put it off to when I'll be more alert.

I don't usually hunt in the evening for the same reason ... and I hate cleaning a deer after dark.

cfe pistol instead of imr 4227 or lilgun. been working with both those powders. it was an afternoon load. so either had to let the dogs out or my wife called or both.

working on 9mm loads. packed up my 9mm dies and put them away, set up my 300blk dies. just forgot to dump the powder. and thought I did

I've never tried CFE because I have so many older-type powders of the same burning rate.

4227 is a funny (not) powder that can present higher pressures if not loaded close to published maximums. The only cartridge I found to be ideally suited to it is .221 Fireball with 50-55 gr. bullets for my XP-100 pistol. It is very accurate and fast when used with a max. load.

loading at min right now. be about 3mo before I can get back with the 300blk I hope. funds is the problem about 200 for the barrel and bcg if I could find a better deal on either one I would buy a better one of the two.

though about stainless but all the stainless for ar is a mirror . want a matte or satin type because of it is doubling as a hunting rifle.

shock and aww time.

pull my bore came out and snapped a few pics of what it looks like inside. I am truly was lucky. looks like it blow the case right to the base. just wondering now if it eject the fragment out the mag and the case was stuck to the firing pin.

the camera is not that good in open spaces. but it looks like a chunk of the case to the right stuck in the lugs.
